4imprint, based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is one of the nation’s leading promotional products vendors. When 4imprint conducted market research, customers repeatedly asked for more case studies. They wanted to know how other companies were using 4imprint products successfully, so they could learn from others’ experiences and find some marketing inspiration. Just as 4imprint was reviewing this market research, an award-winning New York playwright-turned-filmmaker named David Paterson approached the company with a unique request for corporate sponsorship.
Blue Door Consulting collaborated with 4imprint and David Paterson, who had previously used 4imprint products to promote himself and his plays, to promote Paterson’s newest project. His independent film, Love, Ludlow, had been chosen to appear as part of the “American Spectrum” series at the Sundance Film Festival. To promote the film, we worked with 4imprint to develop t-shirts, buttons, baseball caps, magnets, silicon bracelets, and blinking LCD stickers. In addition, we created a three-pronged strategy to promote Love, Ludlow, including a web site, blog and invite, which was e-mailed to 4imprint customers.
The Love, Ludlow campaign was followed with great enthusiasm on 4imprint’s blog, which now has content from a variety of 4imprint staff bloggers. The strategies developed in this campaign have also informed two new projects: Our Hike, a cross-country hike to raise funds for AA&MDSIF, and Brand with Ten Grand, a contest for $10,000 worth of promotional products. Blue Door Consulting maintains an ongoing relationship with 4imprint, working on a variety of projects.
