Case Study :: Black Pearl






Gem expert Bill Thimke found his second passion on coffee farms across the globe, from Central America to Indonesia. As he became an increasingly avid coffee connoisseur and roaster, Bill thought increasingly about launching a new business. Excited about offering his incredibly fresh, hand-roasted beans to the public, Bill turned to Blue Door Consulting for help.
Blue Door helped Bill develop his company, Black Pearl Coffee Traders, including his business plan, identity, brand, and marketing strategy. The packaging and an accompanying brochure were crafted to tell Bill’s story of traveling the world in search of the perfect crop, using visual representations of travel as well as copy that communicates the “legend” of Black Pearl Coffee Traders. This start-up company recently entered its first retail shop, McKnight & Carlson Wines.
