I was heavily influenced by my aunt to become a designer.
I remember watching her work and thinking to myself that she has made a career out of doing something creative that she loves. She was working on a resume for my mom who had just finished her teaching degree, putting shapes and lines and words together. And, voila, a beautiful piece of work. My mom got a first grade teaching position, and I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I Graduated from UW Oshkosh in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree - emphasis in graphic communications. Got a job at the Laux Agency in Oshkosh, where I was an intern. I learned most of what I know today from the wonderful group of people working there and had lots of great experiences in the three years I worked there.
Later I moved to JanSport in Appleton because I wanted to try an in-house experience. Shortly after, they moved their creative services to California, so I was pushed into finding a new job. After JanSport I got hired on at Leibold Associates in Neenah. There I gained experience with packaging and learned about large corporations as clients.
All the while, I was freelancing for Blue Door. Now, I’m a full-time employee at BDC, working from back home (Kenosha), where I’m able to be closer to my husband and family.
