Creative Copywriter & Content Strategist

Position Overview

This position requires a storyteller—an experienced wordsmith who understands how to craft messages that connect with a variety of audiences in a way that drives meaningful consumer action. This talented writer and marketer must be adept in editorial, advertising and promotional copy, sales and marketing, creative proposal writing, strategic direction and project management.

In addition to the position’s consultative role, this role will be expected to lead compelling content development, delivery and analysis across multiple channels such as: websites, mobile applications, e-newsletters/online communications, social media, white papers, press releases, SEO, analytics and more.

Primary Responsibilities

Help Blue Door Consulting and its clients deliver compelling messaging that builds brand awareness, generates leads and drives sales through the following activities:

  • Conduct research and learn about client products and target markets
  • Distill research and findings through effective messaging and storytelling
  • Develop and implement strategic recommendations for messaging, content creation and distribution through creative brainstorming, writing and direction
  • Write compelling copy that meets marketing strategy objectives
  • Measure content performance against the goals of our clients and our company
  • Demonstrate positive ROI with revenue that is directly attributable to content marketing
  • Disseminate and analyze content and its performance across channels; identify shifts in development and distribution to continually improve performance of content marketing strategy
  • Identify, test and implement new content delivery methods and tools for video, animations, graphics, infographics, blog radio/TV, e-books, microsites, social media “events,” gaming, data visualization and more
  • Work on multiple projects and produce great copy under tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment
  • Deliver creative direction to accompany messaging
  • Provide project management including setting accurate project schedules and workflow process under significant workload
  • Conduct SEO keyword research and apply optimization strategies for copy if appropriate
  • Coordinate approvals and edit, proofread and fact check before posting/publishing

Skills Sets and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, Marketing or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Gifted with words and stories
  • Ability to turn lemons to lemonade, craft stories that drive decisions and elevate the everyday to elegant
  • Expertise using leading content marketing tools and research, including AP Style, Google Analytics, editorial calendars, social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Strong business judgment and analytic skills and attention to detail absolutely required
  • Ability to generate and deliver persuasive and clear verbal and written communications in a variety of formats
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization, specific to keyword usage preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, use and learn changing technologies
  • Effective skills in time management, budgeting and project oversight
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; must have credibility, good judgment, honesty, and integrity
  • Initiative to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude
