Public Relations/Communications Consultant – Full-time, Part-time, and Remote availability

Position Overview

This position will concept, create and deliver strategic communications, public relations campaigns and crisis communication plans, while also managing a range of client communications across a wide range of channels.

Primary Responsibilities

Help Blue Door Consulting and its clients deliver compelling stories that cut through the clutter.

  • Create communication strategies, public relations campaigns and crisis communications plans/budgets for clients
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with national, state and local media, as well as online influencers
  • Understand client products/services, target markets and audiences
  • Seize opportunities for clients to tell their stories
  • Prepare clients for media interviews and presentations
  • Conduct SEO keyword research and apply optimization strategies
  • Write, edit, fact-check and coordinate approvals prior to publishing

Work Environment Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in media, public relations or communications
  • Experience in developing public relations strategies and crisis communications
  • Ability to turn lemons to lemonade, craft stories that drive decisions and elevate the everyday to elegant
  • Expertise using content tools including AP Stylebook, Google Analytics, editorial calendars, social media platforms (Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Snap, TikTok, Reddit, etc.)
  • Strong editorial judgment, analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to generate and deliver persuasive and clear verbal and written communications in a variety of formats
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization, specific to keyword usage preferred
  • Effective skills in time management, budgeting and project oversight
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; must have credibility, good judgment, honesty and integrity
