“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door." — Milton Berle

Context, Individualization, Input, Intellection, Empathy

My career is built on the premise that you should love what you do. I never wanted to be someone who works to live or lives to work. Instead, I wanted to be someone who loves to work, and works to share love.

I started my path at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse majoring in teaching. But after a very short period, I realized my passion was in public relations and marketing and refocused my efforts there. I studied abroad in Spain, which gave me the opportunity to travel the world, and now have over 15 countries and 30 states under my pickpocket-proof travel belt.

With the travel bug in my soul, and more than a few couches surfed, I spent the next 12 years working with hospitality, travel, tourism and food and beverage clients out of an island off the coast of Florida. I led the front in the digital marketing department while also serving as a project manager.

My skills as a project manager are so deeply ingrained in my being that my daily life seamlessly moves between work life and home. My husband, Mathew, would agree that I “project manage” everything, including family dinners, activities and even our arguments. When I’m not keeping everyone on task, I am telling stories. Whether it is for my toddler at bedtime, with friends over a coffee or at work as a content creator, I’m often found thoughtfully constructing my world through words.

When I step outside of this blue door, I enjoy photography and reading. My models are sometimes uncooperative and have a long rider list, including snacks, bribes and an entourage of stuffed animals — they are my two young daughters, Isla and Sutton. I tackle mom challenges the way I tackle any project: with a lot of planning, patience and perseverance

I am a total foodie, and I’ve tried it all. From alligator in Florida to paella in Spain, and beignets in France, it’s always a treat to try new things.

I would love to put Jon Stewart, Anthony Bourdain and Julie Andrews in a room for a little while.

What I Wanted to Be When I Grew Up

When I was six, I wanted to be a lawyer and then a judge. I had a wooden gavel and everything.

I read around 100 books a year.
