Individualization, Input, Activator, Learner, Positivity

When I was 12, I became obsessed with coffee. The timing aligned perfectly with the surge of little cafes popping up around the country, trying to capture the essence of Central Perk on Friends. My mom and I began going on weekly coffee dates and collecting coffee mugs from thrift shops in hopes of one day opening our own coffee shop. Time went on, boxes of mugs returned to thrift shops and I put aside my childhood dream to pursue a degree in communication. I thought maybe I would open a cute little coffee shop in retirement…

While I was earning my degree from UW-Whitewater, I worked at a coffee shop and fell in love with the community of people who came in. Think Luke’s Diner in Gilmore Girls but without the phone ban. I bought that coffee shop in 2008 and was lucky enough to live out my childhood dream for 12 years, learning about community development, business ownership and management along the way.

I also learned that my favorite part of owning a business (besides the people) was marketing. My life went full circle back to my communication degree when I decided to learn more about marketing while positioning my business to be sold.

Now I use my business experience to take a holistic, integrated method to marketing. I enjoy keeping up on the latest trends and pop culture trivia, but it’s the long-term approach that gets me really excited. I love beginning with the end in mind, taking actionable steps toward growth and change for clients, their employees and their customers.

In between work, you’ll find me drinking coffee, planning my next trip or concert or volunteering on at least one community development project. Currently, I’m serving on the board of the Whitewater Grocery Co., working to open a grocery store in the Whitewater community. At the end of the day, I enjoy relaxing with my husband and our daughter, usually around a home-cooked meal or board game.
