If content is king, long-form content is the mother of dragons.

That’s because long-form content can improve page rank, show industry expertise and even increase social shares.

So, what separates long-form content from regular content?

In a nutshell, it’s meaty, high-quality content for your blog or website. Long-form is typically one-thousand to two-thousand words long.

So, how do we know how long form content works?

A review of 1 million Google® results found the average page-one search result contains 1,890 words.

Another study found long-form content keeps readers engaged 40% longer than the average web page.

So, if your goal is improving page rank organically, long-form content can help.

But, be warned: Not all blog content is long-form material. If it isn’t worthy of backlinks, it’s unlikely to rank in search results.
