Gretel Achterberg
Technical Support Consultant

Deliberative, Restorative, Responsibility, Learner, Harmony
I’ve always thought it was amazing the way life takes you on a journey, even if you don’t think it’s the right adventure at the time.
My journey has taken me from being a dishwasher at my family’s restaurant, to making pizzas, to working in a meat packing plant, to grinding glass for surveying equipment, to attending Fox Valley Technical College and earning my Associate Degree in technical communications, which I thought would be the beginning of the end of my story. But then, an elective class in HTML opened my eyes to a whole new career opportunity – web development and working for a small web development startup. All of these turns and detours set me on the right path to becoming a technical support consultant for Blue Door Consulting.
I’ve always enjoyed helping people, problem solving and organizing, key aspects of success in this role. This new journey provides an opportunity to work with both external and internal clients – ensuring that our websites, systems and processes run at peak effectiveness.
Outside the blue door, I like reading, watching movies and learning about any topic that interests me in that moment. My husband and I also like to camp and cook new recipes together – and sometimes at the same time!
