I went through a Chevy Chase phase when I was seven. National Lampoons—I mean, c’mon. But it was the actor’s journey as “Andy” (even the coming unglued) in Funny Farm that sent me feverishly in pursuit of a writing career. In the movie, Andy’s wife longhand-penned a children’s book while Andy fell off the deep end, but what I appreciated was the lesson in working through ideas—that you had to do the work. This fed my formative years as I entered writing competitions and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism at UW-Oshkosh. Right after graduation, I landed the role of lifestyle reporter with Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers. A vivid memory to this day is the time I requested an interview with rapper Ja Rule. His publicist turned me down, so I threw away my interview questions and, naturally, the next day received an unexpected call—from the rapper himself. Quick on my feet with no time for nerves, I led with curiosity and ended up with a great cover story. Years later I took my inquisitiveness and love of words into the world of creative marketing and PR, while moonlighting as a baker at my own cupcakery.

More recently, I spent eight years developing content and building communication strategies in the energy and financial services industries. I am incredibly energized to join the Blue Door Consulting family and put my writing and brand development experience to work!

In my personal time, I live for yoga, my family, reading and flexing my creative fiction writing muscles. My husband, one-year-old and I also spend a lot of time supporting local music and exercising our two energetic dogs.
